Court rules on Robbers Cave transfer legality in Oklahoma

Oklahoma Supreme Court denied a rehearing of a ruling blocking the transfer by legislative act of about 9,000 acres at Robbers Cave State Park from the Wildlife Conservation Department to the Industrial Development and Parks Commission. The decision cites the constitution’s constraints on using hunting and fishing license funds for land transfers. The department welcomed the ruling, stressing the land’s loss would hurt sportsmen and its administration across roughly 650,000 acres. The piece also reports on Broken Bow reservoir bass records, noting an 11 pound 15 ounce largemouth caught by Herb Rodgers in 1974 as the state record, and discusses threadfin shad stocking efforts improving bass growth there.
