Rancher Dotson grows vast midland Bermuda on Ada land

Frank Dotson bought 925 acres west of Ada in 1957 and, with fertilizer and strict care, expanded cattle from 80 to 325 on 400 acres. He sprigged 300 acres in 1958 and has since covered nearly all the ranch with thick midland Bermuda. Roots came from Noble Foundation Ardmore. cost about 1.50 per cubic foot. He used a D-6 to prepare soil without losing topsoil.

Chickasaws Seek Old Capitol For Museum Plan

New Recreation Site Planned Around Blue River in Oklahoma

The Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation will develop 923 acres along Blue River in Johnston County near Tishomingo Hughes Crossing. The primitive area will include four restrooms a water well 312 miles of gravel road trout and catfish stocking Rio Grande turkey transplants and feed plots with no admission fee planned though special permits may be required for trout fishing and turkey hunting. The $138000 purchase is funded partly by state and federal sources with public use hoped for by fall.

Jaycees Set Auction Three Days In August

The Ada Junior Chamber of Commerce hosts its annual auction August 9 10 11 at the Southwestern Bell Telephone Co in Ada. Monte Bell serves as auctioneer with radio broadcast on KADA starting 7 p.m. A TV segment airs August 11 8 9 p.m. on KTEN coordinated by Neal Roberts.

McCarthy Back Home In McAlester

Emmett Ray McCarthy 34 is returned to the state penitentiary at McAlester for safekeeping before a trial on kidnapping charges. He was recaptured Tuesday near a roadblock after escaping Monday from the county jail in a second bid for freedom in two months. The May escape from Oklahoma City to Marietta led to the current kidnapping case involving taking a family and guests near the Garvin County line and releasing them unharmed in Ardmore. He was bound over to District Court on six kidnapping counts after a May 31 preliminary hearing.

Allen Water Project Sees Low Bid From Mobile Materials

Allen council opened bids for the water improvement plan and after review named Mobile Materials Inc Ada as the low bidder at 232 416 61 Horace Golden of Ralph Delaney engineers said the firm recommended acceptance The project covers drilling a new well two well houses pumps a transmission line and a new distribution system.
