Arbuckle Dam Project Moves Into Construction
After years of talks and planning the Arbuckle Lake dam project has begun. Amis Construction Co. started site work near the confluence of Buckhorn Sandy and Rock creeks southwest of Sulphur, with earth moving and topsoil removal underway. The earth fill dam will rise about 140 feet and span under a half mile, creating a lake with three arm extensions. Bureau of Reclamation engineers note the site is ideal but the limestone foundation is riddled with faults requiring pressure grouting before building.

Bridge converts to car crossing on old Santa Fe span
The 800 foot Byars Wanette bridge over the South Canadian River, once a rail crossing, is being planked for auto use. McClain and Pottawatomie counties plan hard surface roads to reach it, giving the rural area a one way crossing now open to local traffic.

T. W. Brydia, Former NEWS Employer Dies
Senator T. W. Brydia 86 of Ada died Sunday at 10 15 am. Funeral services were held Wednesday. He was born March 25 1878 in Saunemin Illinois. He joined The Ada Evening News in 1909 and retired in 1952 after years as foreman and printer. He married Laura Whipple in 1913. They had four children and a grandchild. He was admired for craftsmanship and dedication at The Ada News.

Reunion for Byng Baptist Orphans Home residents planned
All former residents of the Byng Baptist Orphans Home in Oklahoma City will gather Sunday for a reunion at Mrs. Lee Scifres home and attend services at Salem Baptist Church before a covered dish picnic at Woodson Park. The home operated around 15 years ending 1956, housed about 40 children, and was run by Missionary Baptist churches across the state.
