Washington July 13— James Marlow analyzes how the road to war sharpens American mood as Korea action escalates. The Associated Press reports Oklahoma highway fatalities rose by five, totaling 246 for the year, up from 281 at the same point last year. Victims include L. L. Smith of Ponca City, Francis Edmund Met of Besie Washita County, Bonnie Jean Hefley two year old of Duncan, Herman Bradford Scott of San Francisco, and William Neil Jackson of Paris Texas. The crashes involved a Ponca City car and truck, a backing vehicle crushing the Hefley child, a pickup struck by a Frisco freight train near Bessie, and two head on collisions on US 271.
Johnston Murray, the first major office run off candidate, will visit Ada Saturday night to seek the Democratic nomination for governor. He concludes a week of campaigning through Oklahoma population centers, after winning the first primary on July 4 by 86,000 votes over the nearest rival and falling short of a clear majority against the others.
DOYLESTOWN Pennsylvania Joe Pretsch of Blooming Glen says he visited all 280 wartime buddies he served with in Europe over 28 months. He claims to have moved 58,000 mules through 39 states plus Canada and Mexico, helped with apples, trucks, cooking, fishing equipment, and produce to defray costs. He estimates wells cost nearly $4,000.
Generally fair conditions prevail in Oklahoma with cooler readings tonight especially south and east. Friday brings warmer weather to the west and highs in the 80s to near 85. overnight lows around the 60s.
The preliminary Billy Frazier case hearing was postponed after three witnesses failed to appear. Burl Williams and Massie Johnson face May 1 murder charges. Evidence included the murder weapon, a blood stained clothing, a shoe worn by Williams, and testimonies about threats and hiding a gun. The court postponed again to locate the missing witnesses.

At Alamitos Air Base California on July 13 a naval reserve fighter squadron VF 781 with over 100 officers and men volunteered for active duty. Twenty four pilots six ground officers and 74 enlisted men signed up led by Lt Commander Collin Oveland with sixteen former pilots also joining. Most are World War I veterans.
Atoka July 13 heavy equipment will grind a gravel surface on State Highway 7 west of Atoka into a heavy duty paved road. The project costs 246,857 dollars and will take up to 1201 working days from date, under contract let last month by the state highway commission.
