In Ada city hotel circles a local business with stock in trade refuses to pay for groceries and job work. The Broadway shop, once a hub for travelers, demands payment after three presented bills and three refusals. The editor warns readers to beware.
Ada and surrounding areas joined a large crowd to commemorate a historic parchment that granted life and liberty, organized by Adv Cxrup, Note, and W. O. W. Banners adorned buildings as of July Fourth morning, with crowds arriving from up to 50 miles away. The grounds were prepared one mile east of town for the event.
The event featured speeches by Bolen Crawford and McKeown, a Fowler orchestra, steam swings, dancing pavillions, and confections. Attendees enjoyed a well organized day extending late into the night, leaving with pleasant recollections of a profitable outing.
On last Thursday near Conway about 12 miles east of Ada Terry Rutledge and Sam Rutledge fought on the road. Terry Rutledge was struck on the head with a bottle and taken to Ada for medical care in serious condition. Rutledge was arrested.
Mr. S. M. Shaw arrived from Terrell Texas and plans a large line of notions in the room joining the Postoffice to be known as the Nickel Store. He expresses pleasure with Ada and intends to stay with his family arriving soon.
Spaulding reports closing an option on three cotton oil mills in the Indian Territory Oklahoma and Northern Texas for a New York syndicate led by Bo Beveridge. The audit shows most mills approved with two-thirds reported favorable, including Muskogee Checotah Kufaula Durant Ardmore Purcell Chickasha Shawnee Oklahoma City Chandler Norman.

United States Marshal Colbert reports a marked drop in crime in the Chickasaw Nation, though officials note a slight rise over the past year. Deputy Gains attributes earlier high fees to lax enforcement and says vigilance has improved since Congress amended the law for liberal arrest compensation.
J M Perry is announced as a candidate for governor of the Chickasaw Nation. He is described as a competent and worthy citizen with qualities to be a capable governor and is a resident of Ada. He seeks the support of his friends and acquaintances across the Nation.
The Woman's Christian Temperance Union records heartfelt thanks to Mr. Bob Nester for his efforts to abolish the liquor traffic in Ada. The resolution will be entered in the union minutes and published in town papers, dated June 26, with signatories Mrs. F. J. Collins, Mrs. W. A. Alexander, and Mrs. M. F. Johnson.
A lively Ada gathering on the fourth featured a balloon parade and varied antics. Rumors mention a mule on display, a goose egg laden ball team, and local figures like J. P. McKinley and M. L. Walsh tied to lemonade schemes.
Rufus Gillespie was shot and killed at Cherokee Crossing near Pauls Valley. Major Gillette is under arrest in connection with the fatal shooting.
