Latta Alumni Banquet Brings Crowd In Rural Western Theme
The Latta Alumni held their third annual banquet at the Latta school on June 28 with a rural western theme. Highlights included farm animal planters, mint filled oaken buckets, and cowboy hat designed programs. Awards honored J W Choate as the most useless graduate, and Mr. and Mrs Don Miller were the youngest couple with the largest family. Delighted attendees from Oklahoma and California joined Mrs Elva Mae Wilson elected president for next year.

Transfer bids denied for ten children in district court
In district court the rejection of transfer applications for ten children was upheld. Parents of the McGalliards Lantz Garret and McCurdy appealed after transfers from Center to Vanoss and Summers Chapel to Vanoss were denied. Twelve witnesses testified as Center and Summers Chapel schools, ages eight to thirteen, grades four through eight, are cited.

Ada Shetland Pony Sale Continues Amid High Bids
The second Ada Shetland Pony Sale ends its fourth day with 212 ponies consigned and many selling strongly. Top offer was Strawberry Dimple with filly at side at $10,000, bought by W. P. Peterson of Blue Springs. Rainbow's Dainty Maid fetched $9,500 in a partnership purchase by Ike Bozeman and Al Frey. Reppert's Foxfire failed to top $9,400. The grade section saw 293 ponies, including 57 from Venezuela, led by a two year old sorrel filly at $1,370 to Rex Den Adel of Rose Hill, Iowa.
