Editor Mistakenly Reports Fire Truck Arrival at Fittstown

Last week Sue Howry of Fittstown described preparations for a new fire truck. Editor Bob Heaton rewrote the story assuming a truck already existed. County Commissioner Rae Thompson says no truck is on order and a firefighting company and garage must be established first.

Mrs McKoy Dies in Ada Home After 60 Years in County

Addie Brown McKoy, wife of Z. K. McKoy, longtime Stonewall hardware merchant and county landowner, died unexpectedly at 227 East Seventeenth in Ada on Tuesday morning. Born April 8, 1885 in Garland, she moved between Ada and Stonewall, returned to Ada in 1929, and was active in the First Christian Church and the Christian Women's Fellowship. Survived by husband, two daughters, a grandson, two sisters, and a brother. funeral held Thursday.

One-Man Cattle Feeding Operation On Corbin Ranch

Murray Corbin, a noted area rancher, runs a one-man operation at Tail N Ranch near Connerville. He uses a bulk feed hopper attached to a truck to feed 800 pounds per load, enabling fast, weatherproof feeding from the road. Corbin also expanded bermuda pastures, reduced timber, and maintains about 250 cows while commuting daily from Tishomingo.

Corbin Bull Pen Tops In Tests

The Murray College Performance Test tracked 176 bulls over 84 days showing an average daily gain of 3.34 pounds. Notable leaders included Corbin of Murray College in the Angus division with 3.95 average, and Hereford winner Murray College with 3.67. Top individual gains included Darold Butler and Bob Allee leading several breed categories.

4-H Youth Hold Safety Meeting

A countywide 4-H safety meeting was held January 7 in the district courtroom. Plans call for a countywide safety program focused on automotive safety with check sheets and workbooks. A safety slogan and poster contest runs January 27 to February 5. fifteen youth and four leaders attended.

A 4 H personality improvement project workshop is set for 10 a m Saturday in January. Participants will learn self presentation and confidence skills.

Getting to Know the Sewing Machine class at Rofs School

A clothing leader training session titled Getting to Know the Sewing Machine was held last Thursday in the home economics room at Rofs School. Future sessions will serve 4-H club girls in years two and three with instruction on sewing without thread, sewing with thread, threading the machine, and winding the bobbin.

Ada Fire Department reports record low losses for 1963

Ada's 1963 fire losses totaled 7918 dollars the lowest on record. The city saw 38 calls inside and 39 outside Ada limits, with breakdowns across dwellings garages mercantile churches offices theatres and various other incidents.
