Blaze Destroys Home North of Byng in Ada Fire Battle
A fire nearly destroyed Eldridge Roddy’s home north of Byng Monday morning as Ada firemen and a second unit from Ada fought the blaze for two hours. Water shortages hampered efforts while neighbors helped remove belongings into a yard. The origin was suspected near a bathroom with possible faulty wiring. no injuries were reported and a small dog survived.

Denton Psychologist to Join County Health Department Staff
The County Health Department will add full time psychologist E. S. Gilbert of Denton starting February 1, funded by a new two mill health levy approved by voters. Until then Gilbert begins half time in January, with Drs. Roy Maxwell and James Tate from East Central assisting. Gilbert earned a Doctor of Education from North Texas State University and runs private practice in Denton offering counseling and testing.

Homer Conditt Dies In Ada After Illness
Funeral services were held for Homer L Conditt in the Allen School auditorium after a three week illness. Conditt born April 21 1880 in Baxter County Arkansas died Friday at Valley View Hospital. He lived around Gerty Calvin and Allen for 55 years and was survived by his wife Ineze four daughters and one son.

Recreation facility near finish on Kalihoma land
On the Kalihoma Indian Reservation a large recreation area is nearly complete, featuring an 800 cubic yard earth dam and a lake planned to hold 70 acre feet of water. The project, built largely by local Indians, includes a hilltop pavilion, rest rooms, a sandy beach, and a quarter mile road. Funding from Accelerated Public Works supports similar efforts in nearby counties.
