Locomotive engineer CP W Barnes, 65, of Shawnee, was held after a brakeman on his freight train, Timothy Calhoun, 55, also of Shawnee, was shot twice and critically wounded in Holdenville yards. Officers say the men had long standing ill will.

Seventeen people were injured when a wind storm destroyed homes in Turley near Tulsa early today. Two babies were among the injured though both suffered only scratches. authorities reported no immediate danger. Damage estimates totaled about $15,000.
Oklahoma City reports the state election board made changes to the election boards in Woods Tulsa Noble Atoka and Grant counties today.
Hazel Atlas Glass Co directors announce an extra dividend of 1.32 dollars per share on common stock. The company operates bottle plants in the east and west.
G W Parker of Harden City was charged Monday in county court with unlawful possession of intoxicating liquor. He pleaded not guilty at arraignment before Judge John B McKeel who set bond at 750 dollars, which Parker posted. A previous similar charge was filed January 23 with Parker again pleading not guilty and posting 500 dollars bond.
Steel is in place on three of four long spans across the Canadian river north of Ada on highway 48. False work is ready for the steel support on the last span. If riverside conditions stay calm, work will progress without delay. Excavating crews dismantle the hill north of the river to create fill for the north end and approaches paving advances.

Forty four purebred Herefords sold at auction in West Plains Missouri by A V Carte for about $13 000. The top cow went to Carl B King of Siloam Springs Arkansas for 625 dollars and the top bull 15 months old sold to Fenner Heathcock Union City Tennessee for 500 dollars. Buyers came from six states.
Survivors deserted the Camp Bird mining camp at Ouray Colorado as new slides threatened the remaining structures. Searchers recovered two bodies, Mrs Rose Israel the cook and workers Ralph Klinger and Chapp Wood, killed in the Monday slide. The $100000 mill bunk house and cabins were damaged or destroyed.
Wednesday marked the official start of dormitory construction at East Central College. The project valued at 363 636 dollars includes a tool house and office and requires hiring additional workmen for the big build. Contractors expect actual dorm work to begin next Monday or Tuesday.

He leaves a wife four daughters and two sons.

A WPA allocation totaling 84061 was announced for Cotton County. The package includes a dorm project and a dam construction near Walters with 34914 allocated to the Cotton county dam project.
In Deming New Mexico on February 26 a tire blowout caused a head on collision on the transcontinental highway. Roger W. Toll superintendent of Yellowstone National Park and George Wright chief of wildlife research for the park service died from the crash. Thomas H Ohmer 17 of New Milford Connecticut died at the scene. Wright died later at a hospital.
Purvis Jones and Lloyd Russell of Allen pleaded guilty to petit larceny after admitting the theft of an electric drill and other tools from the Sunray Oil and Refining company of Allen. They were fined $50 and costs and sentenced to 30 days in jail by Justice A W Oliver on Tuesday.
Eldon Kine, 22, pleaded guilty in district court to second degree murder for a Baldwin fire that killed two women and was sentenced to five years in a penitentiary.
