Hungarian Refugee Family Finds A Home Here
The Weber family from Hungary and the Davis family of Roff form a two story tale of welcome and adaptation in Oklahoma. Karl and Anna Weber and their sons Emmerich and Karl fled Communist Hungary for Austria in 1947, seeking safety and a chance at work. In 1952 the Davises offered a home on their ranch near Roff, with Ada’s Father Maurice Costello coordinating Catholic aid, leading to the Webers’ settlement and integration into Stonewall community life.

Ahloso Fun Night at the school on February 15 drew wide attendance across generations. Fire destroys Brown's Grocery in Roff. block saved
An early Friday blaze razed G C Fat Browns grocery and the adjoining building in Roff. Firemen from Roff and Ada saved the rest of the block thanks to fire walls. Brown reports loss of stock and account books. Everts Grocery nearby was vacant and unharmed.

People Burn More Kilowatts Build New Ada Co op HQ
The People's Electric Cooperative begins construction on a new district headquarters on a 2 1/2 acre tract outside Ada. The building 98 feet wide and nearly 200 feet long will house warehouse storage and offices with buff Roman brick and tile construction, central heating and air conditioning. Pete Loomis says growth in service necessitates consolidating operations at one site, moving from 512 East Main Ada and other facilities.
