Pontotoc County five towns share 20 057.48 from alcohol tax receipts in the first full year of Oklahoma liquor sales. Ada leads with 17 155.21 followed by Allen 1 302.22 Roff 679.28 Stonewall 869.25 and Francis 29.41. Ada also collects over 3 000 in local liquor licenses.

Beef performance leads at Murray State College bulls
Highest herd average in the beef performance test at Murray State College is held by eight Hereford bulls entered by Dr. Harvey Price of Ada. The Price Whitefaces clocked an average daily gain of 3.0 pounds in 12 days. Top individual is an Angus owned by Murray Corbin of Tishomingo with 3.62 pounds. Corbin also has the highest gaining Angus herd, five bulls averaging 2.85. Second high individual Angus is Carlton Corbin of Fitts Town with 3.57. Highest individual Hereford is Crall Hereford Farm of Weatherford with 3.4 pounds. Ada Wood, a NEWS employee, reports a 5:35 p m traffic accident at 19th and Johnston involving Wood and Ian Porter of Route 4 Ada, with minor damage. Five minutes later a kitchen oven fire at Weed's home 708 Weed Fourth produced smoke but no blaze. A tenth accident for the month occurred at 10 p m on South Broadway when Floyd King of Roff left a parked car to rush into a business house for a typewriter and returned to find his vehicle moved.

4-H Broiler Project Begins March 1 in Pontotoc County
The Pontotoc County 4-H broiler project starts March 1 with pre enrolled boys and girls. Any member may enter with any number of broilers, provided chicks hatch between March 1 and March 8 and are raised on a modern ration. Birds will be dressed May 4 and four top entries go to the show at East Central State College Student Union Ballroom. a fifth bird supports a luncheon. Thirty Ada businessmen sponsor the project.
