C M Kyser and three others escaped Pontotoc county jail and now face kidnapping and armed robbery charges. Oklahoma City report says the gross production tax bill and planning board measure weathered House and Senate storms. The 8 percent oil and gas levy was approved after a clash, with the emergency clause debated. the lead and engine tax rose to three-fourths from one-half percent. A constitutional amendment to abolish the state commissioner of charities and corrections was also sent to the voters.
Bruno Hauptmann was condemned to die in the electric chair for the Lindbergh baby kidnapping murder. A jury verdict found him guilty of murder in the first degree after an 11 hour 6 minute session. His appeal to the New Jersey Court of Appeals is expected, delaying execution likely until late May.
In a dramatic courtroom verdict, Bruno Richard Hauptmann was found guilty of murder in the first degree. Justice Thomas W. Trenchard ordered the verdict read, with sentencing to follow within a legal week.
Residents in Ada and nearby areas reported a brilliant light five miles across Friday night around o o clock. No fire or explosion was seen and officials said the source appeared to lie southeast of the city. A motorist heard reports of a flare from five miles north on highway 48 but heard no sound accompanying it.
Oklahoma City report says Mrs George A Waters the state reformatory warden at Granite is slated for removal after an investigation into cruelty and inmate escapes. The Board of Affairs conducted the probe and will file a report next week. Waters seeks a legislative inquiry to clear her record.
