A reader recommends fish oil soap to combat pests on fruit trees. Dig around the trunk to expose the affected areas and swab a thick soap solution on limbs and trunk. A trench around the trunk can hold the solution as earth is replaced, proving effective against overs. The soap is available at drug stores.

Turkish authorities at Smyrna restrict foreign warships to under 1000 tons after today and forbid more than one ship from any nation to remain. Allied commissioners protest with no result. Admiral Nicholson ordered to Smyrna as fleets favor disregarding the Turkish order.
The Turkish commander at Smyrna informs allied warship commanders that they must withdraw or he will force their departure.
Paris reports the French government frets over extreme nationalist moves by Angora. It fears Ismet Pasha and delegates' Lausanne return could repudiate agreed terms and derail unsettled points. France and Italy favor reopening negotiations soon, but see little chance.
In Carter county ten well known citizens face murder charges connected to the killing of Joe Carroll at Wilson by a masked group. The trial may start late this week due to Judge Freeman's illness. Jeff Smith testified last week admitting he was in the masked party but says he was forced to join. The jury in his case was discharged after 48 hours of deliberation without agreement.
Miss Lucile Johnson is missing and claimed as the beneficiary of a cousin who died in the service. The life insurance payout of ten thousand dollars awaits her found residence listed as Durant. Local authorities seek the missing beneficiary to release the funds.

The Oklahoma House saw heated debate over Gov. Walton granting a leave of absence to Xenophon Jones. An investigating committee will be named by Speaker Murray Gibbons under the Disney Berry plan. The governor called the resolution ill advised and said he will use executive clemency as he sees fit with no apology. A clash between Disney and Rossiter was avoided by the sergeant at arms.
Oklahoma Governor J C Walton releases a list of 24 expiration pardons. Each entry notes the county, charge, and sentence lengths, with expirations set for March for inmates including Earl Carter Tulsa burglary two years and R J Pierson Oklahoma murder four years.
