Railroads Defend Cotton Shipment Delays in Discrimination Hearing
In Muskogee on February 6 the M K and T railroad defended itself before the Interstate Commerce Commission panel which traveled to St Louis. Rail officials argued forced shipping of flat cotton from the Onegee General Agent left no 30 day notice for orders to commence, noting three week delays to deliver cotton to compress and damage to cargo on flatcars. Commissioner Harlan suggested discrimination may exist as the car shortage traced partly to cotton through Muskogee.
