Local Oilman Arthur Bowles Dies at 41 in Ada Hospital
Arthur Lafayette Bowles aged 41 of Ada died Monday in a local hospital after a career as an oilman. Born August 13, 1804 in Hillsboro Texas, he lived there before moving to the area in 1896 and studied at Indianola Business College in Tecumseh. He married Flora Vivian Cox of Conway Arkansas. she died January 14, 1545. He leaves a son Arthur L. Bowles Jr. of Ada and a daughter Mrs. Jack N. Moran of Spokane.

Oklahoma nutria ranch uses artesian waters for top pelts
Dale McDonald of Allen and Ed Smith of Jones have bought 22 acres in Union Valley to start a nutria ranch fed by a natural artesian well. The pair, partners since a few months ago, plan a seven-pen complex with water circulated through each unit to support breeding and pelting aims. Former Pontotoc Teacher Receives 1961 AVA Award
M. J. DeBenning, a former Pontotoc County teacher and East Central State alumnus, received the Outstanding Service Award from the American Vocational Association in 1961.
