Jesse Folks Move to Save Schoolhouse

State Examiner and Inspector reports to Weekly News that the Pontotoc County Treasurer Virgil Hunt's books for Aug 1 1956 to Aug 31 1957 were audited under HB 602. Cash and bank deposits were verified, receipts and disbursements balanced, and subsidiary lenders aligned with the general ledger.

Broomweed Edges State Pastures In Oklahoma Study

Oklahoma agronomist Harry Elwell reported at the North Central Weed Control Conference that broomweed in representative pastures from Grady County to Osage County averaged 2,364 pounds of dry matter per acre, leaving only about 490 pounds of grass. Pastures not grazed May 1 to Oct 15 yielded 2,474 pounds of grass and 537 pounds of weeds per acre. Text notes dry weight and that broomweed spread with favorable rainfall after drought years.

Valley View Receives 500 In Memory Of Noted Doctor

Oklahoma City woman Mrs. Robbie Dee Mason donated 500 in memory of her husband Dr. Edward C. Mason, a University of Oklahoma medical faculty member, to Valley View Hospital. Administrator Celeste Kemler says funds will be used for needed equipment after a staff conference, with plans for annual gifts on Dr. Mason’s birthday.
