Jess Berryman born 1888 in Waldron Arkansas has watched Oakman grow from a thriving settlement to emptiness and back again. He describes early schools buses farm life Christmas carols and old traditions and notes his family’s long stay with eight children 17 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He retired in 1956 but tends Oakman Cemetery and a large summer truck patch.

Water Center Planned at Southeastern State College

The Bridwell Hereford Ranch in Wichita Falls sold 297 head of purebred Herefords for $533 950, averaging $1 868 a head. Bulls accounted for much of the total with 100 head grossing $305 825, led by two year old Silver Mischief 641 at $20 000 and the top buyer John Oxley of Pawhuska, Oklahoma purchasing 74 head for $145 000.
