Egg Demonstration Sends 2 County 4-H Youth to K C Meet
Two Pontotoc County poultry youths from Byng 4-H Club, David Calvert and Marion Jackson, were chosen for the Junior Fact Finding Conference in Kansas City on February 20 12. They earned selection from state 4 H work and a team demo on egg marketing and grading at the Oklahoma City Poultry Show December 9. Delegates from 25 states will discuss poultry industry issues, with state sponsor Oklahoma. County Agent C H Hailey aided in the demonstration.

Two Latta FFA members Eldon Lee and Jerry Beller earned an expense paid trip to Nashville Tennessee for selling subscriptions to a national farm publication. Ten Latta boys participated in the campaign with profits of 225 dollars added to the chapter treasury. Lee and Beller led the sales effort and were scheduled to depart.

Deep Cultivation Harms Bean Yields in Florida Tests
Florida tests show three inch deep tillage during the growing season cuts bean yields in half. Blade scraper at one inch depth yields best results, with hand weeding second. Root systems show severe damage from three inch cultivation and none from hand weeding or scraping. Scraper weeded plots yield 298 bushels per acre versus 149 for deep cultivated plots.
