Jesse Underhill resigns to become Connerville principal

Cole Underhill, a Jesse teacher for eight years, resigns Monday night to take the Connerville School principal post. Mrs. Dana Walker will replace him, with Mrs. L. J. McDonald continuing as lower grades teacher. The Underhills retain the teacherage for now as the community notes annual Home Demonstration Council achievements with 125 attendees at Ada.

Pie Supper Auction in Oakman for Christmas Tree

The Oakman community hosts a pie supper on Monday night December 12 with Charley Shockley as auctioneer to raise funds for the annual Christmas tree. Proceeds will benefit the community Christmas tree project.

Pie Supper Raises 400 At Ahloso Christmas Event

The Ahloso community Christmas tree pie supper Monday night drew 400.10 dollars. Lois Jean Smith won the pretty girl contest with Jolene Greenwood and Diana Clifton runners up. The ugliest man contest named Prentiss West. Sheriff Ray Goodwin and others were runners up. Other prizes included a basketball, oil, and groceries. Raymond Robbins served as auctioneer.

Ellis Freeny Named New Assistant County Agent

Ellis Freeny is introduced as the new assistant county agent for Pontotoc County succeeding Wendell Stewart who moved to Haskell County. Freeny, a native Oklahoman and Oklahoma A&M graduate, previously served in Hughes and Latimer counties and spent two years in the army medical corps. He will reside in Ada and attends the Presbyterian Church.

OCW Scholarship Contest Open to Area Senior Girls
