Washington December 7 the senate finance committee reported favorably on a 160 million tax reduction resolution. The measure would cut tax rates on individual and corporate incomes by one percent with the effect mainly on incomes of ten thousand dollars or less. Chair Smoot and Senator Watson expected a senate action soon while tariff legislation continues.
A lengthy Enid fraud case centers on E Collins Hamblin charged with defrauding Henry Schroeder's family of 273000. Records from Godfrey Investment were read as evidence, with J C Hillard expected to testify. several Schroeder family members testified amid defense objections. The trial may run into next week as state witnesses present further testimony.
In Winfield Kansas on December 7 women debaters from four colleges of Kansas and Oklahoma and men from six schools in Kansas Missouri and Oklahoma began the third round of a Southwestern College tournament. Eliminations follow the round with forty two men's teams and twenty three women's teams entered. The resolution argues for complete disarmament except for police forces.
