U S Department of Agriculture designates Pontotoc County a drouth disaster area making county farmers eligible to buy government surplus grain at a discount of one dollar per hundred pounds. Modest Rain Touches County After Dry Spell

Ada on June 12 1955 witnessed a meteorite fall as Robert Hill found a fragment buried in a crater on the west side of town. He kept it until November before turning it to Gordon Harrell of East Central. the piece is now in the East Central college museum.

Fire destroys Stonewall home of Rev. Jim Colbert
A one room frame house in Stonewall occupied by Rev. Jim Colbert was completely burned early Monday. The Stonewall Fire Department arrived too late to save the structure. Rev Colbert is pastor of Leader Baptist Church.
