History of Union Hill School and Its Pioneers
The Union Hill School began in 1903 on a hill three quarters of a mile south of the current site. Founders include George Keeling and Jim Agee who chose the name, with board members G W Keeling and John Binion Sr. A 1904 move east of Harold Haines’ home and a 1909 sale to Joe Pom-Pom marked the early transitions before a new one room school was built four miles NW. Early teachers and the 1922 brick building are noted, with Mr. Mitchell teaching the first year in the new structure.
