Attorney Holman Cleared by Local Grand Jury
The county grand jury reported no misconduct by County Attorney Pat Holman regarding the Ada woman assault case. The forty fourth annual Pontotoc County Free Fair will run September 15 to 17 with exhibits accepted from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on September 15. No admission or entry fees are charged and 4H youths are preparing livestock entries.

Illinois Feeders to Visit Ada Ranchers Tour of Oklahoma
Twenty prominent stock feeders from Illinois will arrive in Ada Tuesday for an appraisal of the local livestock industry. Hosted by the Northeastern Oklahoma Cattlemen's Council, the group will tour the Ada Livestock Auction Barn, attend a dinner at Trail's Motel with guest speaker Professor Don Taggart, and visit Ponotoc County ranches before returning home.

An Ada and Fittstown fire response battled an oil tank fire near Harden City after a welding torch allegedly caused a flashback in a Texfel Petroleum pipeline. The 750-barrel gun barrel tank exploded, with damage estimated at 1,000 to 1,500 dollars and production loss, the blaze ending around noon.
