Stonewall opens a new infant wear workshop run by Carlile Waugh and wife Mrs. Eldean Waugh in the Z. K. McKay building near Burnett Drug Store. Guardsmen Head to Fort Hood for Two-Week Summer Training
National Guardsmen from Ada and nearby towns depart by motor convoy and bus for Fort Hood Texas. The 180th Infantry Battalion along with artillery units total about 200 men training August 5 to 19. McAskill Named New Assistant County Agent
Jack McAskill age 26 and a spring graduate of Oklahoma A and M College becomes assistant to Pontotoc County Agent C. H. Hailey on August 16. He comes with irrigation experience from a farm near Altus and will replace Ellis Freeny who moves to Wilburton to serve Latimer County. McAskill plans 4 H club work in Pontotoc schools and has a wedding set for August 11.
