Harral Allen Dies Saturday
Albert Harral Allen 59 died suddenly Saturday around 4 p.m. at his Ada home 504 West 21st. A conservationist and former Ada teacher, he helped chart laws for soil and water use and served on local and state conservation boards. He married Louise Spangier in 1931 and leaves his wife, two sons Tom and Jerry, two sisters and three brothers. Continued on Page Two.

Miss Ada Pageant organizers prepare for the Miss America arrival Vonda Kay Van Dyke with ceremonies at Glenwood Park at 5 pm and a public parade at 5 30 pm. The event includes Miss America, Miss Ada 1964 Carolyn Carter and 1965 contestants, with a 6 15 pm reception and an 8 15 pm pageant in East Central Auditorium.

Ada City Council Sells Building to Clinic
Ada city officials authorize sale of the building housing the Ada Chamber of Commerce and City County Health Department to the Sugg Clinic for 27500 dollars. The council also approves a quitclaim deed to a 10 acre tract for a federal research extension of the Kerr Water Research Center with plans for a 5000 square foot facility and 20 to 30 workers.

Wheat Has Made Rapid Growth
The weekly report from state and federal agencies notes rapid wheat growth the past week with two percent heading and 85 percent jointing. Spring harvest will begin soon along the Red River in southwestern Oklahoma. Most of the state shows good to excellent growth, but the Panhandle remains dry with soil blowing affecting crops. Green-bug spraying reported in central areas. alfalfa mostly good to excellent with first hay cutting near. Corn planting at 45 percent with 15 percent up, other crops delayed by wet fields.

Hereford Association Elects New Officers
Oklahoma Hereford Association elected J. R. Martin of Chickasha as president and Francis Hill of Ada as vice president at a recent meeting. Carrell Haygood of Stillwater was re elected secretary with Dr. Bob Totusek as treasurer. The board includes Otha Grimes Tulsa and others. The group will publish a 1965 directory circulation about 5000 and plan a fall ball sale the 1965 all Oklahoma Hereford Show and a spring 1966 convention.

Pecan Meeting Planned in County Demonstrations and Tours
A county pecan meeting is planned Friday April 23 at the courthouse east side starting at 10 a.m. Extension horticulturist E. L. Whitehead of Stillwater will lead demonstrations on insect and disease control, pecan propagation, and deep fertilizing for higher yields supervised by Homer J. Massey. A tour of county pecan orchards will follow.
