Union Hill Easter Festival Draws 101 Guests
Mrs Lavona Jones leads the Union Hill Easter Festival on Good Friday with egg hunts, a musical program, and a schoolchildren versus mothers softball game won by the students by one run. Teachers include Mrs Oma Enloe and Mrs Lela Rose. School board members are J W Kirkes B J Jones and F O Jones. Located six miles northwest of Ada, the event drew attendees from Ada and long-time participants returning from other communities. Mrs Easterling Convicted of Manslaughter by District Court
A 12 member jury found Mrs Lillian Easterling Cor neil Allgood guilty of manslaughter and set a 10 year sentence in McAlester state prison after a short deliberation. The case involved the stabbing of her common law husband Eugene Cornell at the Wheat Hotel on December 22 1951 and his death January 1 at Valley View Hospital.

Homer Invalid Takes Own Life
James G. Wright, 73, died of self inflicted wounds at his home two miles north of Homer. He was bedridden with heart disease and lung trouble. A coroner's jury ruled it a suicide after a gun was used to end his life while his family away. Wright formerly worked for the State Highway Department and once ran for county sheriff. Funeral services were held by Criswell Funeral Home.

Police Book Six During Weekend
Six persons were booked by police over the Easter weekend. Three faced drunkenness charges, one was charged with being drunk and disturbing the peace, one for speeding with an improper muffler, and one held for investigation. Fines totaled 84 dollars.
