Wet weather halted Ebey’s spring reseeding leaving 800 acres of tespedoza bare after last year’s 80 percent kill from heavy rains. Ebey plans a ten day aerial reseed with two to three tractors, hoping to beat further rain delays and push calves to market by July or August.
In Willard School Auditorium Pontotoc county 4-H club boys clothing contest with 14 clubs and 228 competitors showcased blue and red group scoring and plaques funded by Ada merchants Grand Champion was James McDaniel with Louis Tolliver as reserve champion He will represent Pontotoc at Stillwater May 28-1 for the 4-H club event judged by Glen Floyd and Roger Rush East Central State College with assistants Emogene Bingham Edd Mitchell Nolen Dyer and Frank Jared recording placings and ribbons
Lomie Dame 72 of Route 5 Ada died Tuesday evening at home. Funeral services were held Thursday at 2 p.m. in Criswell Funeral Chapel with burial in Rosedale Cemetery. Rev. F. M. Wood officiated. Surviving are a daughter Mrs Herman Penn Lindsay two sons Everett Corona N M Earl Oklahoma City Roy Taf California nine grandchildren one great grandchild sisters and brothers listed including Frank Townsley Lindsay Fannie Loman Littlefield Roxie Cheshier Ada Edd Dollahan Ada Robert Henry Center Mose Henry Oakland Calif.
County home demonstration club members will travel by way of Poteau to Fort Smith Arkansas on Tuesday April 16 for an educational tour of the historic site Old Fort Smith established in 1818. The trip includes a museum two furniture factories and a cannery as highlights. Reservations close Friday at 5 with round trip tickets priced at 5 dollars meals not included.
A&P extension experts told Pontotoc County Farm Bureau members that soils and pastures need help. Pasture specialist Chiles urged bermuda regimens with fertilizer to boost forage and long-term yields, praising improved bermuda varieties and vetch as a top legume. Agronomist Hanes cited Fertilizer use data and urged practical tests, noting Pontotoc ranks high in fertilizer use but can improve further.
A northeast of Ada couple reports bizarre crow behavior as a snow white bird with a coal tail and a group of black, bluish feathered, and mixed plumage crows visit their pecan trees. The birds appeared Friday and again Saturday and Sunday, prompting amusement and speculation about future visits.

Oklahoma A&M prepares for the 31st annual Feeders Day on April 20 drawing over 1,500 farmers and ranchers from Oklahoma and nearby states. A tour of facilities and steer feeding projects closes the day with a steak lunch served by Clay Patis.
Tuesday night around Frisco drew crowds to a storm cellar as TV excitement built. Neighbors gathered to watch forecasts and wind patterns while a domino game passed the tense wait. John R. Elkins, longtime Stonewall general store operator, died Friday at 11:45 a.m. at his Stonewall home. Rev. Ronald Ritchie led funeral services Monday at 2:30 p.m. at Stonewall Methodist Church, with burial in Stonewall cemetery. Survived by wife Kinda, stepson Sterlie Collins of Middletown Ohio, brother George of Ada, sisters Lizzie Birdwell of Lexington and Myrtle Fuller of Seagraves Texas.
