Red Cross Fund Drive Falls Short
The 1961 Red Cross fund drive in the local chapter barely reached halfway with only 6344.86 raised toward an 11450 goal leaving 5105.14 unmet. Emergency workers aided 2400 people from Pontotoc County after the Konawa disaster and wind hail damage at Roff March 28. Expenditures totaled 30180 including food clothing repairs and medical supplies. A disaster report noted Roff roofs and windows damaged. a food emergency committee led by Mrs F Jaycee Miller and others was formed to begin immediate work.

Not all greenbugs are identical says entomologist
Oklahoma entomologist E A Wood Jr notes that many greenish aphids resemble greenbugs but differ in key traits. Farmers should involve county extension agents to identify insects before spraying. The English grain aphid resembles the greenbug but has long black legs and black-tipped cornicles, while the greenbug has green legs and antennae.
