Washington April 3. After a day of talks both administration and congressional leaders remained at an impasse on the 4.88 billion work relief bill yet expressed hope for a pact tomorrow. Debate centered on a 33 1 3 percent share for direct labor and how the president should compute it.

Deputy Sheriff F W Pettus said Billy died from a severed heart muscle and Bobby was taken into custody. Mrs Georgia McBethPaul Valley mother of the boys was notified.
Senate munitions committee heard Nye accuse ship builders of stirring a Japanese war scare to push naval appropriations. Eddie Rickenbacker declined to testify on Army Air Corps strengthening, deeming another Washington trip futile. Newell of Bath Maine iron works admitted printed war news clippings were provided.
Progressives strengthened their hold in Wisconsin with two more state senate seats, narrowing the gap to a democratic majority. In California EPIC candidates fared unevenly while Dallas or Chicago results showed strong Democratic showings led by Mayor Edward J. Kelly. Oklahoma City voters backed oil drilling near the governor’s mansion as Zion Illinois ousted longtime local leadership.
