Nemagreen Lima Bean Resists Nematodes for 1958 Planting
A green-seeded lima bean variety named Nemagreen, resistant to root-knot nematodes, has been released by Oklahoma and Virginia agricultural experiment stations with USDA support for commercial production in 1958. Seed will be available through numerous seed companies, with adequate stocks for nematode-infested areas. The state stations and USDA will not distribute the seed themselves. The project, begun 15 years ago, involved Prof. Howard B. Cordner, P. H. Massey Jr., and R. J. Wester, and used a crown from a Hopi-Indian line that performs well in infested soils.
