A Pontotoc County 4-H judging team won the pasture and range contest and placed second in land judging at Guthrie to qualify for the international event in Oklahoma City April 29 30. Members were Richard Bailey Terry Shires Ronnie Janda and Tommy Peay, all of Allen. Bailey placed second in range and pasture, Shires third, Janda fourth. Bailey fifth in land judging with Janda sixth and Shires seventh. County placings for pasture and range: Pontotoc first Logan second and third Pottawatomie fourth Kay County fifth. Land judging placings: Logan first Pontotoc second Logan third Seminole fourth Canadian fifth. Fourteen central Oklahoma counties participated.

Ada High Students Die In Madill Car Train Crash
Ada mourns two teens Robert Earl Van Buskirk 16 and Gary Dennis Moore 17 killed in a Madill collision after leaving a Texoma holiday. Witnesses say the car stalled at the crossing and was struck by a Frisco train traveling about 40 mph. both boys were thrown clear and died at the scene. Van Buskirk active in DeMolay and Ada Community Theatre. Moore a top scholar and club member at Ada High.

The Pontotoc County Teachers Association will hold its annual convention on Tuesday April 7 with a 6 p.m. dinner at the East Central State College Student Union ballroom.
