Sulphur April 1 AP two cars collided head on five miles south of town killing Deanie Baker 18 and R L Mock about 40. J T Baker brother of Don Baker was injured as were two others in Baker’s car Bonnie Howard suffered severe injuries and was treated and sent home.
Two pleas of guilty were entered in justice courts. Woda Saday Hy Couch, 20, and Charles Morrison, 21, admitted driving while drunk and auto theft respectively. Couch arrested on state highway 4 south of Ada after a crash involving several cars. Morrison claimed to have left Battle Creek Michigan, after a decline from a Catholic reform school, and drove to Oklahoma. Justice Oliver and Morrison faced the gravity of the offense as county attorney Vic Blanfield noted they may change pleas in district court.
Five youths aged about 7 to 18 pleaded not guilty when arraigned before U.S. Commissioner Wes Edwards on charges they robbed the U.S. post office at Boley Oklahoma. They were arrested in Boley by Deputy Allen Stanfield. Names listed as Bershell Cain H F Ja Cain Quincy Cowan W A Carter and Jor Barnett. Bond set at 1500 dollars each. Stamps and miscellaneous items worth little were taken. no money was seized.
Washington April 2 The house Indian bill was deferred until next Monday as Oklahoma delegates failed to agree on details. The measure aims to provide adequate funds for the tribesmen and quick approval had been forecast, though progress stalled by disputes within the delegation.
Kenneth Bates and his wife, both formerly of Ada and now residents of Wichita, were hijacked near Hot Springs while traveling for vacation. Two armed men forced their car off a side road, robbed them of $260, a diamond ring, a wrist watch, and belongings, then escaped in their own vehicle. The couple, with a 4 year old son, were en route to Hot Springs about 250 miles away when the incident occurred. No arrests or trace of the robbers have been made.
John Harris, about 26, was moved to the state prison at McAlester to serve several burglary sentences from Pontotug and Johnston counties after pleading guilty. Sheriff Clyde Kaiser transported him following county authorities hearing Harris plead guilty to two burglary charges and receiving two western terms.
Carl Sharp, 21, was held in a Missouri related case after being arrested in New York. He had been jailed in Oklahoma City on requests from the state bureau and highway patrol, with fingerprints sent to Oklahoma and Missouri authorities. Sharp had previously served a Melester prison sentence for receiving stolen property.
Governor Marland issued an executive order establishing a military zone around the state capital and declaring martial law to protect oil and gas drillers under state leases. Adjutant General Bearrell was ordered to assume control, with the governor authorized to deploy the National Guard as needed. The proclamation targets drainage by foreign and private interests and criticizes Oklahoma City ordinances seen as hindering state drilling. The move follows legislation authorizing oil leases on state lands and public notices of bids. OKLAHOMA CITY April 1. National Youth Administration paid $49,201 in February to 487 Oklahoma youths in junior and senior high schools.
W W Wells reports plans and specifications for a new Aldridge hotel wing ready, bids due by May 1, target completion by August 1. The wing will match current height, extend to the alley, nearly double capacity, include air conditioning, a large ballroom and dining area, budget rooms for 150 to 400, sample and private dining rooms, and multiple apartments. The project aims to keep pace with city growth with about $200,000 in spending, leaving space for another wing later.

Authorities weigh new angles as legal experts question next steps, with possible court or gubernatorial action to extend the delay.
Washington April 1 A warning that a new 799000000 tax program would drive dependent fabrications from the steel industry was given the house and means committee by Clyde Onley of Mt Vernon Ohio. He urged provisions to avoid penalties and claimed the plan would mainly benefit larger companies by encouraging consolidations and leases sales. He noted his firm would pay 1100000 more over 11 years under the plan. Dr H W A Beenhouwers of Amsterdam urged reducing a proposed tax on foreign dividends from 22 to 70 percent. The committee considers raising about 25900000 from dividends tax on foreign stockholders to prevent liquidations of American holdings.
Bruno Richard Hauptmann faced further delays in execution as a Mercer county grand jury intervened, delaying the death date by a day amid legal proceedings. Warden Murle Kimberling said he would delay as long as possible, awaiting guidance from higher court authorities. Meanwhile the Wendell murder case looms with possible indictments, keeping Hauptmann alive beyond the anticipated date.
Col Charles A Lindbergh won British permission to return to air in the British Isles until December 1 for private flying only. His U S pilot license was validated, with no hire or reward flying allowed, and no application was filed for Mrs Lindbergh.
Mrs Clinton Hines of St Louis Okla was injured likely not seriously when the car she rode in overturned late Tuesday night two miles north of Fittstown on highway 48. She was taken to Ada for treatment. two companions were believed uninjured.
Alva Oklahoma April 1 Citizens in an election Tuesday voted down a proposed 240000 bond issue to build a municipal light plant. The vote was 146 in favor and 430 against with all eight precincts reporting a majority against the bonds. Similar actions have occurred in Muskogee Norman Butler and Pauls Valley. Highway Commissioners also approved repairs for pavement on state highway 14 from Frederick to Clinton in Tillman Kiowa and Westfitta counties.
A German memorandum to British Foreign Secretary Anthony Eden proposed four months of negotiations to establish a new Locarno style settlement. Germany France and Belgium would yield frontier control to a three nation commission with one British Italian and one neutral member. A plebiscite and a general armament conference would follow, with no border military buildup.
Claude Pinkerton, 98, a rural schoolteacher, faces murder charges in a district court in Muskogee County. Authorities allege he killed Alonzo Ashley on December 7, 1934, with a pistol found in his car. Pinkerton was jailed in Oklahoma after being arrested in October, release bonds set at $13,000.
