Fitzhugh Colbert 4-H Clubs Lead District Share the Fun
Fitzhugh and Colbert 4-H clubs won the county 4-H Share the Fun Festival held at Byng drawing 500 attendees. Eleven clubs presented 17 acts with Vernon Young as emcee. Fitzhugh won Frankie and Johnnie with six members and Colbert took second with Ricochet Romance. The two clubs advance to the district festival in McAlester on March 31, sponsored by Spec Young.

County Voters Exempt From Re registering in Upcoming Elections
Pontotoc county voters do not have to re register for the coming primary and general elections. The state election board deemed 17 counties with registration lists in sufficiently good condition to avoid general re registration. Some may still need to re register if their precincts have been combined and they have not updated into the new precinct.

Ada High Wins District Meet in Joint Track Event
Ada High School captured the sweepstakes trophy in Class A and Purcell won Class B in the East Central Curricular division of the annual interscholastic meet. Ada and Maysville emerged as track field champions as Ada led Class C with 109 points followed by Wewoka Shawnee and Holdenville. Individual Ada winners included Russ Long in algebra and many others across biology geography and art. District officials and local leaders attended the watershed conservancy meeting preparing for a potential municipal formation.

Health Record Plan For Children Set Up
A plan to maintain health records for Pontotoc County school children was outlined at the County Health Department. Dr. Ray A. Northrip described a program starting April 1 with a census of families with children from birth to 18, focusing on immunizations eye and hearing tests and dental exams. Mothers will fill a health record form and be urged to take their child for a physical by their family physician. charges depend on the physician, with many not charging for school exams.

County HD Group Organized at Summers Chapel
The county's newest home demonstration club was organized Tuesday at Summers Chapel with 21 charter members. It is the second club this year in the county, bringing active units to 26 and over 500 women participating in home demonstration activities County Agent Martha Mote praised the record and noted plans for Happyland to organize next.
