A fire is reported at the Farners gin shortly after noon Tuesday in the flues near the gin stands. The steam was turned in, and the blaze was brought under control quickly.

R. S. Tobin reports George Rice and H. West returned Wednesday from a multi day fishing trek in Johnson county. They found many good fishing holes yet no fish were caught.
The First National Bank speaks to farmers about proceeds of 13¢ cotton. It is described as one of the strongest financial institutions in the region and among the most accommodating, assuring farmers they will make no mistake dealing with them.
The fall term opened Monday with Judge R. M. Rainey on the bench. Defendants in criminal cases pleaded not guilty as grand jurors were empaneled and bailiffs named. The grand jury, urged to focus on prohibition violations and perjury, will complete its work this week. H Woodard is in case for the murder of his brother in law Poole. proceedings near conclusion as we go to press. County Attorney Wimbish represents the state.
Work on the oil well paused a few days ago at 260 feet awaiting casing. Water nearly reached the surface, oil appeared, and gas escaped. Drillers consider the depth discouraging yet the signs are encouraging.
Judge Rainey approves issuance of about $37,000 in bonds for county and city financing. Bonds were sold earlier and funds will be available in a few days.

A class of ten received the first rank and other ranks were conferred before an oyster spread at Pontotoe Cafe.
Judge J. P. Wood, from Wapanucka, arrived yesterday and greeted numerous longtime friends in town. The visit highlighted local ties and past connections.
Ada Oklahoma September 19 1909 Daniel Hays reports several stray animals taken up and confined on his premises a bay mare six years old with a brand iron on the right shoulder a black horse mule colt about five months old an iron gray mare work mule four years old a black mare mule three or four years old and a black horse mule two or three years old branded O on the left shoulder detailing owners and identities for recovery.

Registration due by October 2. Judging by three teachers to be announced. Contestants must be in the store by 3 PM on October 9 or forfeit.
