G. O. Black reports that District 1 singers will hold their convention at Happy Land tomorrow and Sunday. All are invited to attend.
A half page notice details an auction sale of Sunrise Capitol Hill and Donaghey Addition lots. The sale is in charge of A. D. Shrewsbury and F. H. George of Little Rock offering bargains in real estate.
Center Lodges of A M elect a slate of officers with J B Parker as W M and R Mann as S W J McCurdy J W as members and Copeland serving as secretary W S McCulloh treasurer and additional officers including Vaughn banker Harper escort Crane watchman Humphries sentry Austell physician and other key roles.
Rev J O Needham preached at Sulphur Sunday. Mrs Ed Gwin, previously ill, is reported to be improving. Sprague Bros hold a large jewelry auction drawing crowds and offering bargains. The Democrat will be issued Wednesday next week to include Christmas ads. Ek D Hinkle of Rebee handed a readable ad for consideration. Paul Smith, formerly at Texas Department Store, departed for Ardmore then Amarillo. Ada girls varsity traveled to Sulphur for a 10 to 5 loss to the Sulphur team.
J. J. Copeland reports that the box supper planned two weeks ago at Center was rained out but will proceed tomorrow night. The Democrat candidate is expected to attend and will be asked to wink when the box with the name of the best looking girl in the neighborhood is auctioned.
The Democratic central committee of Pontotoc county met at the courthouse to map an aggressive campaign. Funds were approved after heated debate with speeches by Judge Terrell and Senator Roddie. A five member campaign committee was appointed to organize and push fundraising and actions.
A quiet Saturday meeting formed the Ada Industrial Co with 400 acres to be platted and lots sold. The proceeds first pay land purchase and sale costs, excess funds support needed industries, and a directorate including Rinard Conn Harden Torbett is installed with Rinard as president and Conn as vice president.
Superintendent Pierce visited several country schools this week and is nearly recovered from a long illness described as a carbuncle that had him down for a while.
