Chas. Thomas, county weigher, appoints G Duncan deputy weigher for Francis district to supervise weighing of cotton by gins and dealers and to guarantee accurate weights. The deputy’s fees are paid by commissions, estimated at about $300 annually. Francis Wigwam.
The town of Ada moves toward concrete paving for Broadway and Main streets claiming it will make Ada the best paved town in Oklahoma for its size. If 12th Street paving matches appearance, other paving should follow with the same material that has boosted Ada’s growth.

The Stewart Ranch barn west of Sandy bridge burned Saturday night destroying several hundred bushels of corn. An ice cream social at W. W. Chapman’s home drew attention as two of Ed Chapman’s mules were in the barn and the arsonist fled after firing shots. bloodhounds were used but failed to locate the culprit.

The preliminary hearing for Moonlight, Doe and Jackson Black and Will Cole on charges connected to the killing of Frank Hatcher was held before Justice Brown. Jackson Black was released for lack of evidence while the other three defendants were held to await grand jury action.
County court convened Monday and disposed of several cases at a good rate. Defendants include W E Sweetman liquor not guilty, R E Goff liquor guilty, R E Goff liquor guilty with $50 fine and 60 days, Charley Hall pistol guilty, Jim Dodgin shooting in public place guilty, Sam Fisher disturbing public assembly guilty, Luke Jenkins killing a beef without inspection guilty with $10. Jenkins challenged verdict but a jury of his choosing delivered guilt.
Rev. Sid Williams preached at the Baptist church after arriving Sunday afternoon. He conducts two services daily and shows once again full preacher power. He denounces sin but shows sympathy for sinners and, in clear terms, criticizes bootlegging and the Sons of Washington for opposing saloon interests.

Miss Mollie Stone departed Tuesday for Talequah to assume charge of the Domestic Science department at the state Normal. A graduate of the College of Industrial Arts at Denton Texas she studied at the University of Chicago this summer and is highly qualified for the position.
