Europe meets America in outstanding Collins collection of antiques
Europe and America antiques highlight a late Federal style home built in 1850 by Dr. John Schuyler Montgomery and Mary Mont gomery. Purchased by John and Susan Collins in 1969 the house reflects early upstate New York settlers tastes with a rear addition and 1889 fireplace upgrade. The office displays Marshall memorabilia including a 1840 cherry butler’s desk and over 25 oil paintings from Ireland England China and the U S. The standout work is Antonio Jacobensen’s 1913 Jefferson steamer painting once featured by American Heritage. The hall houses 51 Vanity Fair Spy prints from 1869 1914 and photos of the builders. Mrs Collins helps lead Marshall National Landmark District nominations and serves on local arts and planning boards.
