Bayberry House Interiors Tells Crary Family Home History
The Crary Cottage, dubbed the Crary Fragment, is Marshall's oldest structure dating to 1834, tied to Isaac Crary Michigan's first congressman and early school system pioneer. The building passed through Crary family ownership, later became a bank, moved parts in the early 1900s, and was saved from demolition in 1972. Since 1988 Janet Ostrum transformed it into Bayberry House Interiors, expanding in 1997 and housing Chalk Paint by Annie Sloan as a regional stockist.
