Deputies from the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office responded to Edgemont Street in Pennfield Township after a stabbing incident at 3:14 am on Sept 29. A 28-year-old Battle Creek man was found outside with serious neck and abdomen wounds, another 31-year-old Battle Creek man sustained facial and arm injuries. Two people were arrested as the investigation continued.
Police report a party escape escalated to a fist fight in the roadway. A 27 year old Battle Creek man alleges he was assaulted and stabbed the other man in the neck and abdomen. A second party was stabbed in the arms and face. A 28 year old was hospitalized with life threatening injuries and later transferred. A 26 year old faces reckless discharge of a firearm and a 27 year old assault with intent to murder charges. Names withheld pending investigation.
The public is invited to the Fourth Annual Pumpkin Something at Oerther’s, 311 W. Spruce Street, benefiting MACS. Activities include pumpkin carving, apple peeling, a pumpkin pie contest, cider and donuts, crafts for children, and scarecrow making on October 12 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Albion hosts its First Annual Honeybee Festival this Saturday afternoon from 1 to 5 at the Library. Sponsored by Dadant and the Greater Albion Chamber of Commerce, the event features speakers on beekeeping, sustainable methods, colony health, and honey basics, plus honey tastings and children's activities. Proceeds aid the Friends of the Albion District Library.
