Local postal history collected at Marshall museum by Schragg
Schragg funds museum efforts and thanks residents Gordon and Bernadine Karns for supplying horse harnesses used by mail wagon replicas. He notes Rotary Lions Club and Marshall Community Foundation support as he documents Calhoun County post offices once numbering 59 now 10. The oldest item dates to the 1840s before stamps. a stampless 1844 letter from an visitor to Isaac Crary. The museum, open by appointment at 269-420-7030, also welcomes special days during Michigan Week and Home Tour. Sherman hopes for a stamp revival and preservation of two centuries of mail history.
