The Marshall Fire Department responded to a February 17 call for an entrapment in a vehicle at a West Drive car wash. A dislodged washing mechanism fell onto the vehicle, was stabilized, and power was shut off. Firefighters assisted EMS with extrication, and both occupants were taken to Oak Lawn Hospital with minor injuries.
Firefighters arrived at the Marshall House Apartments at 5 55 p m to heavy smoke on the fourth floor hallway. They found the fire contained to one apartment with no extension and used fans to vent smoke. Cause linked to cooking oil on the stove. a resident was taken to Oaklawn Hospital for smoke related issues. Marshall Two Fire Department and Marshall Police Department assisted.
On March 4 at about 8 45 a.m. an off duty Calhoun County Sheriff detective foiled an armed robbery at Marathon C Store on Emmett and McKinley in Battle Creek. He tackled the suspect in the parking lot, knocked the knife away, held him until police arrived. The case is under investigation by Battle Creek Police.
On March 6 at about 9 43 p m deputies responded to a northbound I 69 rollover at mile marker 27 north of Tekonsha. An SUV on its top left a 33 year old Allen Park woman air lifted to Bronson Hospital Kalamazoo with critical injuries. A 28 year old male passenger was arrested on drug charges.
