Marshall city officials voted to appoint Tom Tarkiewicz as interim city manager as City Manager Chris Olson prepares to depart March 12. The council also approved staff title shifts and salary changes while considering whether to hire from within the city staff.
Marshall officials discussed naming Tarkiewicz interim city manager with a 5 percent pay tweak to fit the budget. Tarkiewicz, with 16 years in Marshall, would split duties across Public Services and City Hall as council weighs continuity. The meeting also marked Olson’s farewell before becoming DeWitt City Administrator and promotion of Kiessling to Fire Chief. The city will re advertise for police chief and seek a new finance director while dealing with staffing vacancies and expanded duties.
