Pennfield man charged in former roommate’s death
Calhoun County deputies arrested 51-year-old Robert Curtis Nelson after finding 51-year-old John George dead from blunt force trauma at a Pennfield Township residence on Sharon Street. Nelson barricaded in a friend’s apartment after a 911 call. Battle Creek police contained the scene. Arraigned February 22 on open murder with no interview given.

Marshall Police investigate attempted abduction incident
Marshall Police received a call about an attempted abduction on February 27 around 5 p m at Maple Street and Washington Street. The 12 year old girl reported a dark green car with two white males in their early 20s tried to talk to her and grab her. she ran away and called police. Gas station robber caught and jailed in Battle Creek
Battle Creek officers arrested a 51 year old resident after an armed robbery at the Speedway on Columbia Ave. A second subject in a blue four door truck with black stripes cooperated with police. The suspect fled from the vehicle but was captured following a short foot chase. No gun was recovered. The case is under investigation by detectives. Officers seek witnesses and any information.
