Dinner honors cancer survivors and caregivers at Relay for Life event

The Annual Relay for Life Survivor and Caregiver Dinner on June 12 at Marshall United Methodist Church drew over 350 attendees. Survivors and guests enjoyed a complimentary evening with dinner, fellowship, and entertainment led by emcee Dr. Jim Dobbins. Allie Garland from Albion College performed four songs, including an original titled Some People, as survivors were recognized and door prizes awarded for gift baskets.

Kari Jolink 5K memorial honors cancer survivor’s legacy

The Kari On 5K walk honors Kari Jolink, a Marshall teacher and 2001 Marshall High School graduate who died of cancer. Miranda Heath started the event in 2017 to celebrate survivorship with sponsors and community support from United Methodist Church, local businesses, and several events during Relay weekend.
