Night at the Louvre fundraiser raises near $60,000 for Fountain Clinic
Marshall residents supported the uninsured and underinsured at the Night at the Louvre charity event on June 15. Fountain Clinic Director Mary Jo Byrne called the night a success as nearly $60,000 gross was raised. The clinic operates on about $500,000 yearly with only $4,000 from Michigan state funds, funded mainly by donations and grants. Jennifer La Pietra from Massachusetts discussed vegan gluten free baking, noting it’s a learning process and a way to share with those who have celiac or follow vegan diets. Karissa Kalisz of Marshall, a 2011 graduate, plans summer art projects painting faces on children, inspired by her studies in child development and teacher education.
