Albion seniors can get free legal advice and possible representation at Albion Senior Center on Wednesday, June 22, from 11 a.m. to 12 noon. The session is hosted by Legal Services of South Central Michigan Battle Creek, serving Calhoun and Branch counties and seniors in St. Joseph, Branch, Calhoun and Barry counties. Funding comes mainly from Calhoun County Senior Mileage and Area Agency on Aging regional offices.
Fountain Clinic, serving uninsured residents, relies on an upcoming Night at the Louvre dinner and auction to fund summer operations. Last year the clinic cared for 788 patients across 4799 visits, addressing diabetes hypertension low mood esophageal and stomach issues cardio pulmonary problems respiratory infections and thyroid diseases. Free medications totaling 652000 from the PIN program plus 9373.94 in prescriptions and 114019.35 in dental work were provided through local grants and pharmaceutical and millage support. Proceeds from the auction and tickets will sustain patient services over the coming summer.
