On May 27 at 10 30 p m Marshall Police stopped a vehicle on North Drive near Cosmopolitan Avenue. The 26 year old driver used a false name but was identified with multiple warrants and arrested for the warrants and providing false information. A 19 year old passenger was jailed on possession of marijuana after officers detected marijuana and paraphernalia in the back seat.
Marshall police responded to a May 25 incident in the 500 block of S Kalamazoo Ave where a 53 year old man was intoxicated and pinned down while attempting to reach his car to drive home. He assaulted a 30 year old man. disorderly conduct charges are being pursued by the City Attorney.
A 26-year-old woman was arrested at her residence after entering the home of a 28-year-old ex partner uninvited, shouting and throwing items. Two witnesses backed the report. She resisted arrest and was lodged in Calhoun County Jail on illegal entry and resisting arrest charges.
At 2 33 p m on May 27 a Pennfield Middle School student crossing Pennfield Rd in front of the school was struck by an eastbound vehicle. She was airlifted to Bronson Medical Center in Kalamazoo in serious condition. Calhoun County Accident Reconstruction Team investigates.
A 29 year old Marshall woman reported May 25 around 1 a.m. her cell phone and sweatshirt were stolen from a basket on her bicycle parked near 200 Block S Mulberry. Police ask anyone with information to contact Marshall Police at 781-2596 or Silent Observer at 781-9700.
At about 1 a.m. Marshall patrol observed a car parked near Hamilton Street and East Michigan Avenue with one occupant. A consent search found the 25-year-old female in possession of controlled substances. The case remains under investigation with charges to be pursued by the County Prosecutor for felony drug possession.
An equipment violation stop on West Michigan Avenue near Dobbins Street at about 9 45 p m led officers to detect marijuana odor from a vehicle. A field investigation found cannabis in a suspect’s purse. The 19 year old woman was charged with possession of marijuana and given a notice to appear.
Marshall police report a focused enforcement zone on W Michigan Ave for June 4 through June 10 with 23 arrests last week including home invasion resisting arrest and drug offenses, 19 citations and 109 verbal warnings. Residents with traffic concerns are urged to call MPD at 269 781 2596 to set target areas.
