Marshall resident Rod Detty named American Legion Veteran of the Year
Marshall resident Rod Detty, 75, was named American Legion Post 79 Veteran of the Year and honored during a Memorial Day ceremony on May 28. He has served in Post 79 offices, the Color Guard and Honor Guard, and is active in the Jaycees and Lions Club. Detty recalls Memorial Day weekends spent at cemeteries with the community to honor veterans. He earned a mechanical engineering degree from Ohio State in 1965, then worked at Eaton Manufacturing before Army service in 1968. Detty stresses Memorial Day as a time to remember those who served and hopes others will be recognized in future years.
