Marshall oil spill of 2010 spurred vast cleanup and local aid
The Kalamazoo River spill from Enbridge Line 6B on July 25 2010 released 800000 gallons of heavy crude, affecting 38 miles of river and 4435 acres of shoreline. Cleanup costs exceeded 1.21 billion dollars. Local businesses benefited as crews stayed, dined, and spent in Calhoun and Kalamazoo counties, with Schuler's Restaurant & Pub providing extensive catering and support to workers amid rising hotel occupancy and community mobilization.
