About 200 residents attended a Wednesday night public hearing as Oaklawn Hospital asked the planning commission to rezone parcels on the Craig Kempf Funeral Home property now owned by the hospital. The plan would relocate three homes on the site to create more parking, drawing criticism from many residents.
U S 7th District Representative Mark Schauer led his third healthcare forum in the district on July 6 to discuss reform. Panelists included healthcare professionals such as Oaklawn Hospital President and CEO Rob Covert. See story on page 10.
Cheryl Vosburg received the Groundwater Management Professional of the Year award from the Michigan Water Environment Association. She said she is honored to be recognized by colleagues in her field. See story on page 20.
Over the weekend Marshall police logged several vandalism reports at city garden sites including Family Tree Garden Center Inc Winnie’s home and Carver Park Garden. Police urge residents with information to contact the Marshall Police Department.
Showcase Auto Sales of Marshall hosts a free drawing today for a 1997 Ford Escort LX. Owner Chris Davids notes no payment or registration required and attendance not needed at the draw. See story on page 22.
